Understudy

Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED · July 20, 2026

Understudy is an AI writing assistant that turns your rough notes into finished LinkedIn posts written in your own voice. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. We keep it short and plain because the data practices are simple: we hold the content you give us, use it to draft posts for you, and don’t sell it or use it to advertise to you.

Who we are

Understudy is operated by Useable Studio. You can reach us about anything in this policy at brandon@beehner.com.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. If you sign in with an email and password instead, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. We never see or store your Google password.

The content you create. The heart of the product: the writing samples and voice details you provide to build a persona, the rough inputs you give us, the drafts we generate, your edits, and the corrections and ratings you leave. This is your content, and we hold it so the product can learn your voice and keep working for you.

Basic technical data. Standard server and security logs, and the session cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

How we use your data

We use it to run the product for you: to build your persona, generate drafts in your voice, store your work, send you the transactional email tied to your account (such as your invitation), and keep the service secure and working. That’s it. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

AI processing

To generate a draft, Understudy sends the relevant content (your persona and the input for that post) to Anthropic’s Claude API. Anthropic does not use content submitted through its commercial API to train its models. We do not use your content to train any AI model, and we do not share it with any AI provider other than Anthropic for this purpose.

Who we share data with

We use a small set of trusted infrastructure providers (sub-processors) to run the service. They only receive what they need to do their job, and only to provide the service to you:

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of Understudy and its users.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your content for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time by emailing brandon@beehner.com; we’ll remove it within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain limited records to meet a legal obligation.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and access to your content is enforced at the database level so that only your account can read your own rows. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email us and we’ll help.

Children

Understudy is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we’ll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use Understudy after a change means you accept the updated policy.
